MPQ (Mirko Pedrotti Quintet) was started in 2013 by the vibraphonist Mirko Pedrotti from Trentino, and focuses on the study, research and experimentation of instrumental music.
Influences from a variety of musical sources can be heard in the group’s musical output: jazz, minimalist, rock, progressive, classical music among others stylistic elements that coexist in their compositions, creating a contemporary, characteristic style.

Captivating groove, polyrhythms and careful attention to timbral combinations are perhaps the main features of MPQ, who, soon after at the outset, won high acclaim: they were awarded absolute first prize at the Barga Jazz Contest (2013) and second place at the Baronissi Jazz Festival (2013) both of which helped to launch the group and give them visibility at national and international level.

In these years of activity, MPQ has performed in over fifty concerts both in Italy and abroad. Their collaborations with the guitarist Chris Montague and the trombonist Gianluca Petrella are particularly worthy of note.
